AutoCAD Secrets – Master the Hidden Gems

Best Practices:

  • Consider readability: Choose a center location override that ensures  unambiguous dimension placement.
  • Align jog line: Align the jog line with other nearby lines or features for visual consistency.
  • Adjust dimension text: Use the DIMTEDIT command to reposition or rotate dimension text as needed.  DIMJOGLINE/DIMJOGANG
  • Manage dimension styles: Control the appearance of jogged dimensions, including linetypes, colors, and text styles, through dimension styles.

Experiment with placement: Try different center location overrides to find the most effective and readable arrangement for each situation.

Additional Tips:

  • Use DIMBREAK: To create a break in a dimension line that intersects a jogged dimension, use the DIMBREAK command.
  • Combine with other dimensions: Integrate jogged dimensions with other dimension types, such as linear and angular dimensions, to create comprehensive and informative drawings.
